Thanks to the efforts of some brave consumers even bog companies are forced to face the heat. The Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Chandigarh recently sentenced Unitech chief Ramesh Chandra and two top directors to three years jail term for “willfully” disobeying its order to refund money to a complainant – Jagdish Singh and others.

As per the commission’s January 11, 2016, order, Chandra and managing directors  -Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra – will serve three years each in jail and pay a fine of Rs 10,000 each. However, Unitech spokesman said “the matter has already been resolved”. Read full report at ET.

This case clearly shows that it is though money power may be powerful but consumers’ resolve to get quality service is a matter of concern for the citizens and the courts.
