New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) launched a website for J-1 visa holders of the United States so that they can for ‘No obligation to return to India’ (NORI) certificate.

The website has been functioning from February-27.

“The portal would serve as a one stop solution for end of end process right from submission of application to issue of letter of NORI to the applicant,” the Ministry said in a statement.


Using this portal, applicants can apply online; rectify the shortcoming indicated by the MHRD on the same portal; check current status of the application; get alerts through email at every stage; and download the NORI certificate.

While applying, applicants will have to provide colour scanned copies of bio-data, affidavit and degrees from Bachelors onwards.

The Ministry will continue receiving physical form of application for the next 90 days from commencement of the new website.  Thereafter, physical application will not be accepted for the purpose, it said.
